Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body to gain a therapeutic response. Examples of techniques include Swedish massage, hydrotherapy, passive stretches and remedial exercise.
Massage Therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario, and Registered Massage Therapists (R.M.T.s) can assess and treat numerous conditions that cause pain. R.M.T.s can specialize in many areas such as prenatal massage, myofascial release, sports injuries and craniosacral treatment.

The massage therapists at Metta Massage & Yoga Clinic are actively involved in the on-going development of the Chronic Pain Management Program which integrates Recovery Yoga, Integrated Movement Therapy and Educational Counseling for clients with chronic pain. Advanced treatments with hydrotherapy, hot stones and aromatherapy body treatments are also performed by RMTS.

Therapeutic massage is performed in our clinic setting on a massage table, and lasts between 25 and 90 minutes. You will be draped with a sheet, and only the portion of your body being worked on is exposed. Oil or lotion is used to allow glide in the massage strokes. Massage should not be painful, although discomfort in tight muscles is normal.
